Ohio State fans get excited. It's that time of year again to chant the fight song, bust out the buckeye necklaces and live for the scarlet and gray. That's right, it's NCAA Cross Country Championship week again and the Buckeyes are sending both the male and female teams for the first time in school history! I know know, most people are pretty excited about this whole Michigan week thing but for Ohio running fans this should be a huge deal. It is pretty exciting to have home grown kids running for our home state school on the biggest stage in the sport.
The men, who are coming off a runner up finish at the Big Ten meet, are returning to big show in Terre Haute for the first time since 2007. Their 3rd place finish in the Great Lakes region was largely fueled by senior Jeff See's individual crown. A multiple time All American on the track, See claimed the regional title by covering the 10k course in a time of 31:03. See was followed by sophomore Taylor Williams (13th in 31:25), sophomore Adam Green (28th in 31:53), freshman Julian Meyer (44th in 32:19), senior Christopher Olinger (58th in 32:38), sophomore Cory Leslie (79th in 33:03) and freshman Donny Roys (149th in 34:42).
The women are in a particularly exciting place as this group of female Buckeyes represent the first ever to qualify to the championship meet as a team. The women rebounded from a rough outing at the Big Ten meet to finish 2nd in the Great Lakes regional and gain the last automatic qualifying spot. The team was lead by junior Jordan Jennewine's 5th place finish, Jennewine covered the 6k course in a time of 21:03. Following Jennewine were junior Sarah Foster (14th in 21:31), junior Ellen Birmingham (22nd in 21:41), senior Katie Williams (29th in 21:56), freshman Tori Brink (33rd in 22:01), junior Ashley Chirco (67th in 22:33) and sophomore Sarah Lowe (100th in 23:02).
Both teams race in Terre Haute Indiana next Monday November 23rd. The men's 10k championship race goes off at 12:08 pm and the women's 6k gun goes off at 12:58 pm. So let's enjoy the annual Michigan showdown on Saturday and then keep that Buckeye spirit going to support 14 outstanding runners as they represent our home state with pride and duel it out with the best in the nation.

Good Luck Buckeyes!
